Basic knowledges of bearings you must know

Do you know what kind of mechanical parts bearings are? Bearing is known as "food for machinery industry", and is widely used in various important parts of machines. Because such important parts work in an invisible place, they are often not understood by non professionals. Many non mechanical professionals "don't know what the bearing is".

What is the bearing?

Bearing is a kind of "part to help the object rotate", which is called "jikuke" in Japanese. As the name implies, the bearing is the part that supports the "shaft" that rotates in the machine.

The machines that use bearings are cars, airplanes, generators and so on. Bearings are also used in household appliances such as refrigerators, vacuum cleaners and air conditioners.

In these machines, the bearing is responsible for supporting the "shaft" with wheels, gears, turbines, rotors and other parts installed to help the shaft rotate smoothly.

As a result of various machines to use a lot of rotating "shaft", so the bearing has become an essential part, known as "food for the machinery industry.". This kind of part looks unimportant, but it is very important. Without it, we would not be able to live a normal life.

Function of bearing

Reduce friction and make rotation smoother

There must be friction between the rotating "shaft" and the rotating support part. Bearings are used between the rotating "shaft" and the rotating support section.

Bearing can reduce friction, make rotation more smooth and reduce energy consumption. This is the biggest function of bearings.

Protect the rotating support part to keep the rotating "shaft" in the correct position

There is a lot of force between the rotating "axis" and the rotating support part. The bearing can prevent the rotating support part from being damaged due to this force, and keep the rotating "shaft" in the correct position.

It is because of these functions of bearings that we can use the machine repeatedly for a long time.

What if there were no bearings?

How many bearings support our life? It's hard to imagine, because the bearings can't be seen directly by the eyes? Here, let's take the common cars around us as an example.

When I was a kid, did you play a battery driven racing toy? Many people will remember that bearings are installed in the supporting part of the wheel.

How many bearings does a real car need?

The correct answer is, about 100!

Because the bearing is an important part to support our life, so no matter in which era, the durability and accuracy of it have put forward high requirements.
